Driving Services

I provide a variety of bespoke professional services depending on your driving needs.  My lessons offer a combination of hands-on experience, visual aids and theory within the comfort of a dual-controlled VW Polo.
I am an independent instructor and take a friendly, informal approach to my teaching to build upon your motivation and confidence.

Beginners Driving Lessons

Whether you are a complete novice or have a few hours under your belt my Beginner Lessons are bespoke to you to ensure you become a safe and confident driver. We all learn in different ways, and at different paces, so I will support and guide you to meet your own learning needs and goals.

Mock Tests

A mock driving test allows us to identify any areas of your driving that need improvement before taking the DVSA practical driving test.
I use known test routes and the same marking sheet that a Driving Examiner would use to give you a greater understanding of what is expected and how you can prepare for the test.

Refresher Lessons

Whether you've just passed, haven't driven for a while or are looking to develop specific skills, my Refresher Lessons can help. Just let me know what you want to cover and we can put together a personalised training plan.

Topics could include:

  • General practice to brush up your skills.
  • Town driving.
  • All-weather driving.
  • Out-of-town driving and rural roads.
  • Night driving.
  • Dual carriageways.
  • Motorway driving.

Assessment Lessons

Perhaps you started learning to drive and never quite got round to booking your test or maybe you have a valid EU licence but want to be sure you are confident and safe on UK roads.
An assessment lesson will allow me to determine what driving skills you already have and at what level your driving is at. At the end of an assessment lesson I will offer my no-obligation advice and recommendations moving forward.

Motorway Lessons

The law has very recently changed to allow leaner drivers to gain motorway experience with an Approved Driving Instructor before taking their test.

However, previously before becoming a full licence holder a novice driver could only gain knowledge and understanding of motorway rules and safety through Theory Test preparation.

I can offer specific motorway driver training and, with your goals in mind, we will look at different scenarios that are likely only be experienced on a motorway. For example, multiple lane choices, recognising road signs unique to the motorway network and overtaking larger and slower vehicles.

Theory Tuition

Before you can take your Practical Test you must have passed your Theory Test.

Typically you will have to study in your own time between lessons to be able to apply what you have learnt effectively, however naturally we will be discussing and analysing topics and themes throughout your lessons too.

With a little bit of research there are a number of different ways to study and practice for your driving theory test in the form of books, websites and apps.

I personally recommend Safe Driving for Life as a useful tool for practising the Theory Test itself - see link.

Pass Plus Courses (including Hampshire County Council Scheme)

Pass Plus is a training course that is specifically aimed at new drivers or those looking to refresh their skills. Various statistics show that new drivers are more likely to have an accident within the first two years of passing their test which is mostly due to a lack of driving experience. The Pass Plus course aims to build upon your newly acquired driving skills and knowledge.

Anyone who holds a full UK licence is eligible to take the Pass Plus. There is no test at the end of the course but you will be continually assessed throughout the course duration.

Pass Plus will help build upon your existing skills and knowledge, it will teach you how to anticipate and deal with all kinds of hazards thus helping you to become more confident on the roads.

Pass Plus is made up of six modules which include:

  • Driving in town
  • Driving in all weathers
  • Driving on rural roads
  • Driving at night
  • Driving on dual carriageways
  • Driving on motorways

Upon completing the Pass Plus course you will be sent a certificate by the DVSA confirming your achievement and with this certificate some insurers will provide you with a discounted quote.

If you are between 17-24 and in your first year on the road you may be entitled to a £75 discount towards your Pass Plus lessons through Hampshire County Council - please contact me for more details.
